Feb 16, 2009: NAST Invites Treasurer Lewis to Attend President Obama’s Signing of Stimulus Bill

SANTA FE – The National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) has invited New Mexico State Treasurer James B. Lewis to attend the signing ceremony for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in Denver tomorrow. Treasurer Lewis was elected senior vice president of NAST by the association’s executive committee in January.

“I am delighted to represent NAST as senior vice president at this very historic occasion,” said Treasurer Lewis. “This recovery package will benefit the nation, state, counties, and municipalities. One year ago, NAST supported the National Governors Association infrastructure initiative. We now look forward to working with President Obama on this economic recovery package.”

“State Treasurers were pleased to provide input into the new economic recovery package,” said NAST President and Vermont State Treasurer Jeb Spaulding. “While we fully understand this will not be a miracle cure for our struggling economy and finances, it is an important step in providing a foundation for recovery.”
