Self-Earning Accounts

For an agency fund to receive the earnings on its balance, these procedures must be followed:

1. Send a letter stating the reason(s) why a fund is entitled to receive the earnings on its balances (legislative mandate, federal mandate, trust account designation) to:
Anthony Armijo
Director, Financial Control Division
Department of Finance and Administration
180 Bataan Memorial Building
Santa Fe NM 87501

2. Copies of all authorizations must accompany the letter to Mr. Armijo.

3. Upon approval, Mr. Armijo will send a letter informing the State Treasurer that a particular fund has been approved to receive the earnings on its balance and the effective date. The State Treasurer's Office will then make the necessary entries to initiate the transfers.

4. A copy of the transfer letter will be provided to the administering agency from the State Treasurer's Office showing the amount of earnings.
